what to buy for a toddler
Hulalalala asked:

My 13 month old is almost walking and he is out growing his soft infant shoes…where is a good place to get him properly measured and fitted for infant shoes? Sketchers? Gymboree?

Do you have a Marshalls? I use to get good quality sketchers there for a good price. They grow out of them SO fast,so don’t spend a lot of money.

Many people prefer Stride Rite for their childrens shoes. Frankly for the price I think it’s absurd. I have had great luck at Payless. Their shoes have great cushioning, flexibility, and arch support. They will measure your child there. Just ask the sales associate. They are very helpful. Don’t buy shoes at Gymboree, Children Place or Target. They are made for looks and not good brands for the support toddlers need.

I always bought my son’s toddler shoes at Stride Rite. They know how to properly fit a shoe for a toddler.

Stride rite they measure their feet and they have a lot of sales they have skechers sperry’s keds all kinds of shoes. They have nice walking shoes to instead of those ugly white ones for boys they have navy blue brown a variety of colors.

I also vote for Stride Rite, at least for the first pair. Since they measure the feet and carry different widths it’s a good place to start. My almost 2 year old has very wide feet, and they are just about the only place that carries extra wide shoes. For my 4 year old daughter I buy shoes at a variety of places. And yes, the shoes at Stride Rite are expensive, but they have better support especially for beginning walkers.
